I would like to know if any EVM professionals have ever projected or forecast future BCWP for a project manager.  And if you have what value was it.  We have been doing this for 5 months and it is causing all kinds of confusion for our Control Account Managers and Cost Analysts.  I do not see any value in this practice what so ever.

Projecting future EV, if done correctly, can help to forecast the completion date of the project, and there is value in that when doing estimates to complete. Additionally, it can be used to test the schedule generated forecasted completion dates for reasonableness. However, I would use caution when using forecasted EV, given that a forecast is only as good as the data used (previous EV) to create it (past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future performance) and they are also temporal.
