I am currently using Winsight Admiistrator 6.0 (upgrading to 6.3 shortly) and would like to know if there is anywhere that I can find the cross reference that tells me what the definition of the numerical values of the Parent ID is.
thanks.

The parent # is an internal number used within the data base and is automatically assigned. To see what the parent is, click on the Parent cell, then click the down arrow and click Select. This will bring up the structure and show you the parent element. You could also pick a new parent following this procedure.

So there's no database I can open to see where the number corresponds to the parent name? I sometimes analyze my data outside of winsight and was hoping I could see that data somewhere in the winsight files.

Very easy! Simply insert ParentID as a new column in any wInsight view. You must have the data elements sorted by WBS hierarchy. If you do this when you first open your data before any data sort, the data will be sorted correctly by WBS hierarchy. (If you have already sorted, restore the WBS hierarchy by clicking the Sort pull down menu, then selecting WBS Hierarchy.)

You can even click the indent button to see how the children roll up to the parent elements.

You can then copy this data to another application.
