Hello, All!

Does anybody have any clues how to import Format 5 narratives into wInsight other than copy and paste them manually?

Actually we need to import there about five or six hundreds Variance explanations every month in Format 5. Usually we copy and paste all narratives from Excel spreadsheets manually.. It takes about couple of days..

Please advise is there any way to automate the process?

Thanks, Rus.

Rus:

That is a huge amount of variance explanations!!

The right way to do this is to have your CAMs directly input their variance explanations into wInsight.  They should select the WBS element that they are writing the analysis for, click on Input, then Format 5 Narrative.  Once these have all been saved, they are automatically populated into the CPR Format 5.

You can also use wInsight Alerts (a separate software package) to help automate this process.  Alerts will send out e-mail notices to the CAMs and track their responses.  It also allows managers to go in and approve the analysis.

If you still have to use Excel, why not have one combined workbook where one worksheet references and pulls the narratives from the other tabs?  Then you could just copy and paste from the summary worksheet.  OF course, you always run into the problem of cells being limited to 260 characters.  If you use text boxes for the explanations, then my suggestion won't work.

Much better to have direct input.

Best of luck,

Eleanor
